All new hires must participate in a 7 (non-consecutive) day orientation.
Under the direction of the Mental Health Program Supervisor/Director of Quality Improvement, the Utilization Review Nurse is responsible for managing the Utilization Management Plan and working with forensic mental health service providers to plan, cost, control, and monitor programs. The Utilization Review Nurse shall be a licensed mental health professional and will participate in analytical studies of organizational procedures; gathers, tabulates, and analyzes data; develops organization, workload, and other charts; interviews and consults with departmental officials, employees, and others to give and secure information; prepares reports and makes recommendations on procedures, polices, and program alternatives. The Utilization Review Nurse assures Coalinga State Hospital and Medical Staff compliance with Utilization Review State Licensing Regulations, which require quality patient care and optimum utilization of facilities and services. Knowledge of and experience with psychiatric diagnoses, behavioral symptoms, pharmacology and nursing processes and requirements.
