General Schedule The best qualified candidates for this job must show in their resume that they meet the minimum qualifications described below and have experience in the following areas: 1). Knowledge of standard medical terminology for the human body, basic understanding of physical and emotional reactions and skill sufficient to provide and gather information on patient care and to participate in meetings with nurses, doctors, patients and family members. 2). Knowledge of common problems in the unit sufficient to recognize an emergency situation and inform appropriate personnel immediately. Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation effectively. 3). Knowledge and skill sufficient to assist in preparing patients for routine and special procedures such as biopsies, catheterizations, pap smears, curettage, spinal taps, proctoscopies, and other minor surgical procedures.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.Education can be substituted for experience. Review the qualification requirements for specific information.One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.GS-04: Six months of general experience and six months of experience directly related to this occupation, or 2 years of education above high school level with courses related to this occupation, or a combination of experience and education. SCDN07323468 Nursing Assistant Additional Duty Location Info:01 vacancies - Fayetteville NC MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); Serves as Nursing Assistant in a multifunctional Medical Clinic serving active duty military service members, families and retirees with patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics. Performs basic nursing care in support of the plan of care. Measures and records vital signs, height, and weights. Prepares patients for physical examination. Provides for patient comfort and safety. Assists physician as needed. Assists physician during special diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by preparing necessary supplies and equipment, assisting patient and physician as needed. Cleans room and equipment after the procedure. Performs specialized procedures within scope of practice to include suture removal, dressing changes, electrocardiograms, wound irrigation's. Monitors assigned patients to observe, determine, report and record changes in objective signs and subjective symptoms.
