| JOB REQUIREMENTS |

08-130H Medical Support Assistant QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Qualification requirements are established in OPM?s Qualification Standard Handbook, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, TS-1, dated 8/94. GS-4:One (1) year of general experience OR two (2) years of education above high school. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties in a hospital or clinical setting. HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED: BackToTop(); 1.Knowledge of rules and regulations of hospital operations. 2.Knowledge of medical terminology. 3.Knowledge of various medical and surgical services. 4.Ability to explain instructions to patients for a variety of procedures. 5.Ability to communicate tactfully with persons of various backgrounds and mental states.

08-130H Medical Support Assistant Additional Duty Location Info:7 vacancies - Hines, IL MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); The incumbent is assigned to the Patient Administration Service and serves as an assistant in the Scheduling Section. Receives telephone calls from patients that need to cancel and/or reschedule appointments, patients checking on scheduled appointments, or patients with general hospital questions.The incumbent assists the callers or refers the calls to the appropriate staff.The assistant will assist in scheduling clinic appointments during clinic reassignments or other times as needed.Refers questions regarding prescriptions, refills, and medications to the TCP pharmacist.Refers questions regarding medical concerns to the TCP nurse and refers complaints to the Patient Representative.Incumbent will cancel clinics, create new clinic requests, and assign patients to PCMM providers.
