24MR-2008-0012 Contract Specialist QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Qualifications:To qualify, you MUST meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENT: A.A four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field; OR B. At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields:accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management. 24MR-2008-0012 Contract Specialist Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - Minneapolis, MN MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); The duties described are for the full-performance level.At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. Serves as contract specialist responsible for preaward and postaward functions for a variety of supply and service contracts for several Program activities of six agencies, each having different contract requirements.The employee is responsible for a variety of contacts which frequently require special handling provisions or other specialized terms and conditions.Some contracts cover a period of more than one year.Typical requirements include technical equipment, supplies, and services, ranging from standard items which are complicated by urgent delivery requirements to complex or sophisticated requirements.Examples include equipment or services need to support a research and development activity; negotiated contracts with disadvantaged business firms; contracts for specialized services and equipment for laboratories; and negotiation of contract modifications and change orders caused by inadequate existing drawings, defective specifications, or change site conditions; assists in technical oversight on contractual matters. Trains and instructs lower grade level contact specialists and field personnel on one to one or group basis through form and informal presentations.
