Trades and Labor Recruitment Bonus and PCS paid Must be new hires to the Military Technician program and must incur a two year obligation within the Department of Defense. Must start on or before 30SEP08. $3000.00 Recruitment bonus. PCS paid for the first official duty station. Must have ability to determine when parts should be cleaned, adjusted or replaced. Interprets TMs to make repairs in accordance with specifications. Utilizes skill in use of common hand tools and a variety of test equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is predominantly performed in the shop area but there may be a requirement to work outside in inclement weather. Inside work is done where it is drafty, noisy, and fumes from vehicles are usually present. Workers must stand on hard surfaces. Outside repairs are sometimes done in bad weather. Worker is subject to minor cuts, bruises, strains, electrical shocks, skin irritants, carbon monoxide, gasoline and solvent fumes. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of this position. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires frequent bending, reaching and climbing. Works on top of or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision.Ability to inspect technical work related to this position.Ability to lead employees engaged in technical work related to this position.Ability to lead or supervise employees engaged in technical work related to this position. NCDE07103136R2 Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer Leader Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - MA - Ayer or Ft. Devens MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); Serves as working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work. Completes repairs and troubleshoots to assure no further complications. Performs the more complex repairs with the approval of the support installation. Completes such processes as removing and replacing such major components as engines, transmissions, differentials, transfer cases, power packs, clutches and steering and braking systems. Locates worn, dirty or poorly adjusted parts and makes necessary repairs, makes idling adjustments, replaces and sets points and plugs; replaces wheel cylinders, mufflers, brakeshoes, generators, voltage regulators, starters, fuses, lights, cables and other comparable items, removes, cleans, and replaces fuel tanks and radiators. Performs body work such as rough hammering out of dents, filling, sanding and spot painting. Occasionally paints entire vehicle. Provides technical assistance to personnel on performance of operator and organizational maintenance.
