SWBG08469511D Master, Tender Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - IL - Peoria1 vacancy - IL - Rock Island MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); Serves as the operator of a diesel-powered towboat in the Project Maintenance Unit. May have assigned a complement of one or more deckhands or other lower-grade personnel. Supports combined land and floating plant units engaged in the construction and maintenance of shore protection and channel control work on the Illinois Waterway. Operates, and supervises the operation of, a single- or twin-screw, pusher-type towboat, under 65?, 800 HP. Pilots the boat and controls the operation of engines by means of pilot house controls. Exercises care for the safe operation of the boat and has working knowledge of the river, navigation aids, and currents in order to successfully pilot boat, either light or with tow, by day or night. Assignments aboard the boat are for the performance of such activities as the following: Towing barges and other floating plant up to and including 2500 tons on both short- and long-range tows; Shifting, moving, and spotting plant on location.
