General Schedule NOTE: In Addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants MUST possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 **SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to developing geo-referenced digital databases, linking databases to appropriate mapping elements, and analyzing geo-technical data.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. MAJOR DUTIES:

Utilizes knowledge of surveying, geodesy, photogrammetry, mapping, engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and computers to plan, coordinate, and accomplish work in support of the District?s civil works and military missions. This includes a wide variety of projects in the areas of planning, engineering, construction, regulatory, emergency management, real estate, operations and maintenance. Provides technical assistance to other District elements in solving unique or complicated engineering problems through state-of-the-art computer equipment and technology and a wide variety of computer applications used by the engineering profession such as GIS, Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), web technology, and relational databases. Works with managers, engineers, scientists, and other professionals to identify and develop GIS applications and to promote the technology. Plans, coordinates and implements GIS projects utilizing new GIS and engineering technologies.
