6VS-2008-0172 Office Automation Assistant QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: To qualify, you must meet all qualification and time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AT THE GS-5 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the next lower level in the Federal service.This experience is typically in, or related to, the work of the position being filled. OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION AT THE GS-5 GRADE LEVEL:Completion of four years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. 6VS-2008-0172 Office Automation Assistant Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - Columbia, SC MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); The position is located at the Veterinary Services, South Carolina Area Office, Columbia, South Carolina. The incumbent serves as an Office Assistant with responsibility for performing, and coordinating a variety of administrative support work in the areas of budget and fiscal, procurement and supply, property, personnel, data processing, and program record keeping. Responsibilities consist of several of the following duties and may be supplemented by additional responsibilities of comparable nature and difficulty. Major duties include but are not limited to; incumbent serves as an assistant to the Area Veterinarian in Charge (AVIC), Administrative Officer (AO), and the Export Document Examiner. Incumbent assists with applications for veterinary accreditation. Incumbent of this position also assists the AVIC and AO, in managing and administering the Area Office's budget and allocations. Assures that travel authorizations are issued in accordance with Agency policy and that events requiring travel meet certain criteria. Provides backup clerical support to the AVIC in the event of the Secretary's and other office staff's absence. Assists AO with reconciliation of invoices received, and applies correct accounting codes before submitting to appropriate personnel for payment. Assists AO with maintenance of supply inventory and all office files. Assists program area records with the following; receiving monthly program reports, maintaining log of reports received, and reviews reports for completeness. Assists in preparation of annual program reports. Provides assistance for NAHMS studies as appropriate.
