CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Maintenance of a valid State medical license is mandatory. This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. This position is PART TIME. Incumbent will not work more than 40 hours per 2-week pay period. Tour of Duty is 0745-1630. Immunization Screening required. Direct Deposit required. Mandatory Drug Testing required.

General Schedule Basic Requirements:
Degree: MD or DO from a school in the US or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. An MD or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the US may be demonstrated by permanent certification by ECFMG or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the US and graduate education in a foreign country.
Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining an MD or DO, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training. (This 1 year of supervised experience may be waived for research or administrative positions not requiring direct patient care.) For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the US or Canada. Listings of accredited programs are published yearly in the Directory of Residency Training Programs and the Yearbook and Directory of Osteopathic Physicians.
Licensure: For positions involving patient care, candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, DC, Puerto Rico, or a territory of the US. Applications will be accepted from physicians who are not currently licensed; however, if selected for appointment, they must (a) obtain a license before entering on duty, or (b) meet one of the following:Waiver of Licensure Requirement: An agency may waive the licensure requirement for positions not involving direct patient care, e.g., positions performing disability evaluations, positions performing solely research, or administrative program managers. If the agency does not waive the license requirement for these kinds of positions, candidates may be appointed subject to obtaining a license within 1 year.
Appointments Pending Licensure: Individual circumstances may warrant appointments pending meeting the licensure requirement; persons appointed pending licensure may not be retained beyond 1 year of appointment if they do not obtain the license.
In addition to meeting above basic requirements, applicants must have completed 5 years of graduate training or equivalent experience and training plus 1 year of appropriate experience equivalent to at least the GS 14 level.

Examines/Diagnoses/Treats and follows patients with medical problems of all complexities. Provides follow-up care for chronic diseases and complications (obesity, diabetes, hypertension, gout, heart disease). Provides medical care for non-appointed patients with acute illnesses of variable severity, per triage procedures. Examines and conducts thorough evaluation of patients utilizing laboratory/clinical findings. Renders urgent treatments/hospitalizes patients. Works periodic early morning, evening, and Saturday morning clinic hours. Directs Intern Ambulatory Medicine Rotation Program. Drafts orientation materials, conducts intern clinic orientation, handles schedules, teaches formal lectures, mentors/conducts final evaluation. May serve as attending staff physician on the General Internal Medicine inpatient wards, attending physician on the inpatient consult service, and/or attending staff physician on the Medical Evaluation and Treatment Unit.
