FAMS-FLD-08-0047 Supervisory Federal Air Marshal (ASAC) QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated senior level experience and ability to lead law enforcement and security management programs in a large, geographically dispersed organization. Demonstrated senior level experience and ability to collaboratively work across organizational lines in implementing law enforcement and security management programs. Expert knowledge of, and demonstrated competency in, the application/implementation of law enforcement and security management laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to apply the provisions of the Aviation Transportation Security Act (ATSA) and knowledge of, and/or demonstrated executive level experience in, aviation domain law enforcement issues and operations. MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Qualifying experience for the SV-K level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the SV-J or the GS-14 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. FAMS-FLD-08-0047 Supervisory Federal Air Marshal (ASAC) Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - Tinnicum (Philadelphia), PA MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); DUTIES: Directs the work of subordinate managers throughout the Federal Air Marshal Service who are responsible for overseeing development of complex security investigations related to alleged or suspected violations of criminal law associated with threats or actions against the United States. Investigations are often national or international in scope and interagency in nature. This position includes the following managerial duties: planning; communicating vision and objectives; assigning tasks and responsibilities; setting priorities; monitoring and evaluating program performance; coaching and developing employee capabilities; approving leave; and taking, recommending, or approving corrective/disciplinary actions, as appropriate.

OTHER INFORMATION: BackToTop(); Qualified candidates must be credentialed Federal Air Marshals or current Law Enforcement Officers. This position is covered by the Law Enforcement Retirement System, and the incumbent is eligible for Law Enforcement Availability Pay. The salary range for Philadelphia, PA is $98,132 to $152,110. Salary includes a locality adjustment of 20.14%. Permanent change of station benefits are authorized. Some, all, or none of the applicants may be interviewed. This position has secondary coverage under 5 USC 8336(c) (applicants covered by the Civil Service Retirement System) and 5 USC 8412(d) (applicants covered by the Federal Employees' Retirement System). Applicants covered by the Civil Service Retirement System in a primary position under 5 USC 8336(c) must meet eligibility requirements for mandatory separation under 5 USC 8335(b) including coverage in a primary position before transferring directly, without a break in service exceeding 3 days, to a secondary position. Applicants covered by the Federal Employees' Retirement System in a rigorous position under 5 USC 8412(d) must meet eligibility requirement for mandatory separation under 5 USC 8425(b) including coverage in a rigorous position for at least 3 years before transferring directly, without a break in service exceeding 3 days, to a secondary position. Applicants selected will be required to complete a one year supervisory/managerial trial period if one has not previously been completed. DRUG TESTING: Incumbents of this position are subject to random testing for drug and alcohol use. The position requires compliance with the FAMS Drug and Alcohol Program requirements. FITNESS PROGRAM: Positions filled from this announcement are subject to the Federal Air Marshal Fitness Program to include regular participation in a physical fitness program and quarterly physical fitness assessments. MEDICAL STANDARDS: Incumbents are required to meet the entry and recurrent medical standards of the FAMS Medical Examination Program. This position requires a Top Secret Security clearance and completion of a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained. The incumbent will be subject to a 5-year periodic reinvestigation. The selectee must be able to obtain and keep a Top Secret Security Clearance. The OLE/FAMS is in the Excepted Service. FAMS positions are not classified under either the GS or wage grade pay systems. OLE/ FAMS has adopted the FAA compensation system, called Core Compensation.
