WHAT DOES A MANAGEMENT AND PROGRAM ASSISTANT DO?
IRS Management and Program Assistants perform a wide range of duties
in most major IRS organizations.These duties may include
researching specific programs or issues, collecting relevant
statistics and other data, and assisting in preparing reports with
supporting tables, charts and illustrations.Management and Program
Assistants use word processing, database and spreadsheet software to
prepare and create memos, reports and records in final form.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 level, you must have at
least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to
the GS-4 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is
defined as experience which has equipped the applicant with knowledge
of basic program and administrative policies and procedures to
perform standard duties, tasks, and assignments, resolve recurring
problems; assist with coordination of studies or projects; knowledge
of the organization, mission and policies and the substantive
programs of the assigned organization to ensure that the support
provided is in compliance with policies and procedures;knowledge of
various automation software and computer equipment to prepare
documents, input data, compile and generate reports, and monitor
administrative controls; knowledge of record filing systems to
facilitate research and/or to maintain systems containing substantial
information and a variety of documents, reports, studies, and other
reference materials including files or records containing
confidential materials; knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation,
format, and administrative procedures for the preparation and
clearance of correspondence, travel and training documents,
requisitions, and other documents; a qualified typist is required.
OR
You must have completed and provide documentation that you have
completed at least 4 years of education above the high school level
(120 semester hour, 180 quarter hours or 2880 formal classroom hours)
or have a Bachelors or higher degree;

You may qualify based on a combination of education and qualifying
specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 grade level, you must have
at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to
the GS-5 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is

of analytical techniques and program policies and procedures to
analyze and evaluate information, interpret, guidance, draw
conclusions, assist with coordinating studies or projects, and to
provide effective management and program support; knowledge of the

compliance with policies and procedures;knowledge of various
automation software and computer equipment to prepare documents,
input data, compile and generate reports, and monitor administrative

least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06
level in the Federal Sector.In addition, applicants must possess
an extensive knowledge of a variety of management and program

coordinate studies or projects; thorough knowledge of work functions
and familiarity with objectives to identify problems, gather
information, provide recommendations, and follow-up on conventional
and non-conventional problems; knowledge of grammar, spelling,
punctuation, format, and administrative procedures for the
preparation and clearance of correspondence, travel and training
documents, requisitions, and other documents; knowledge of various
automation software and computer equipment to prepare documents,
input data, compile and generate reports, and monitor administrative
controls; a qualified typist is required.
EVALUATION OF FOREIGN EDUCATION:Qualifying education from colleges
and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of
equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities.
Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must
submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts;to an accredited
private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work,
including grade and credit conversion, and degree.You must provide
a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency
evaluation as supporting documentation.Failure to provide such
documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.

time of appointment that they have registered with the Selective

This is a permanent, career-conditional appointment.If selected,
