About the Position: PCS (moving) costs will not be paid
Rotation between major training areas required.
Shift work, weekend work, holiday work, and overtime may be required.
Duties involve working with or in close proximity to explosives or incendiary material in an environment where munitions training is being conducted, or in close proximity of unexploded ordnance.
A current state and/or federal driver's license is required; must be able to operate a motor vehicle, must be able to operate both a four-wheel drive with standard transmission and an off-road all terrain vehicle. Work requires driving on hazardous roads and terrain.
Incumbent must be in good physical condition. Work requires frequent exposure to foul weather conditions.
This is a drug test designated position.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
** Applicant must have one year of specialized experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to the next lower pay band or equivalent GS grade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is at least one year of experience, equivalent to the GS-6 level, in the monitoring and enforcement of safety and environmental requirements for military live-fire ranges(s)/training area(s).The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Your pay will be set within the range specified in this vacancy announcement and will be based on your qualification, education, experience, training, and availability of funds.NSPS positions are excluded from time-in-grade restrictions.Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower pay band or equivalent under the General Schedule (GS) or other pay systems.Quality of experience relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background and recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. MAJOR DUTIES:

Provides information on the capabilities and limitations of training areas, ranges, and target arrays. Ensures safety cards are prepared/distributed, and that surface danger fans and airspace restrictions comply with safety regulations. Assists in the preparation of surface danger area fans and reviews the elevation, charge, fuse limitations, and other specified safety requirements. Ensures enforcement of safety programs and that range/terrain safety operation briefings are conducted. Enforces range patrol activities to ensure training is conducted in a safe manner. Ensures that self and others are not unnecessarily exposed to potential risks from unexploded ordinance or incendiary devices. On an assigned shift performs duty as Range Specialist, receiving assignments from the Senior Range Specialist. Assists during emergencies, including MEDEVAC operations, weapons/ammunition malfunctions and wildland fires. Ensures compliance with environmental regulations. Performs minor maintenance.
