JOB SUMMARY:

The Pharmacy Department provides a 24 hour comprehensive pharmacy service both for inpatients and outpatients.The majority of distributive services are provided form the central pharmacy which include 1) purchase of drugs and supplies, 2) narcotic control and distribution, 3) manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations, 4) a unit dose distribution system for all nursing units, 5) an IV admixture service for all units and 6) dispensing of drugs to outpatients.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Applicants must possess a four-year bachelor's degree in Pharmacy recognized by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.
Applicants must also be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Applicants must also be able to distinguish basic colors.
This position has an education requirement. You must submit a copy of your transcripts (or a list of your courses including titles, credit hours completed and grades) to document that you have met the education requirement. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package. Official transcripts will be required prior to beginning employment. MAJOR DUTIES:

The incumbent acts in place of the Chief when designated; assists in the establishment of the goals and objectives for the Pharmacy Department; provides general administrative guidance to superiors; serves as a senior Department advisor to the Chief; shares the full range of responsibilities for administering the Department with the Chief; interfaces with senior staff of the Clinical Center Departments; administers the Pharmacy Department's Credentialing Program; provides input into clinical decisions involving the Pharmacy; and completes assigned complex projects to achieve expected outcomes within assigned timeframes.
The Clinical Center Pharmacy Department provides pharmaceutical services 24-hours a day, 7 days per week.Occasional night-shift work may be required on an emergency basis.
