QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Applicants must meet the minimum acceptable level on the screen out factor to receive consideration for this position.
Driver's License:If you are selected for this position, a current valid driver's license is required.
This position requires Shift Work.
You may need to lift and move heavy items.
You may need to stand for prolonged periods on concrete floors and walk over rough and uneven terrain.
You may need to bend, stoop, walk, stand, and climb, and work in cramped positions.
You may need to work outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions.
Applicants for this position must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
You must be a U.S. citizen by the closing date of this announcement in order to be considered for the position.
Selectee must obtain a Level 5 Public Trust security clearance before their start date.This Level 5 security clearance must be maintained in order to stay in the position.

MAJOR DUTIES:

The employee serves at the journeymen level, repairing, operating, and maintaining all mechanical equipment in the RML buildings.Provides backup for other workers in the branch including supporting the electricians, plumbers, and carpenters as needed.
Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC):Inspects, operates, maintains and repairs building HVAC systems.These systems include supply and exhaust air handler units, terminal re heat, variable air volume, constant air volume, zone control, and induction units.Familiarity with motor controls, building automations system, variable frequency drives, cooling towers and steam, hot water and cooling coils is needed.
Steam Distribution Equipment:Inspects, operates, adjusts maintains, and repairs steam distribution systems on system ranging from 2 psig to 165 psig.This includes valves, reducing stations, pilot control valves, traps, condensate tanks and pumps, water heaters, and industrial and domestic heat exchangers.Requires knowledge of steam systems sufficient to diagnose the problem and restore the system to normal operation within a timely manner.
Refrigeration Equipment:Inspects, operates, adjusts, maintains, and makes repairs to refrigeration equipment, including domestic refrigerators freezer units, cold and constant temperature walk-in rooms, and humidifying and de humidifying equipment.
