WTEW08838700 Correspondence Clerk (OA) QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Click on link below to view qualification standard. General Schedule For GS-5 level positions, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Specialized Experience is defined as: Knowledge of the internal organization of the inpatient and outpatient medical records and the relationships of their parts in order to search records and extract medical information. Knowledge of the internal organization of Tripler Army Medical Center and the various functions within the departments/services. Knowledge of Army regulations prescribing correspondence procedures. Skill in operating an electronic typewriter, word processor, microcomputer, or computer terminal, using a standard typewriter style keyboard with additional function keys. Knowledge of processing procedures and function keys required to execute at least several basic office automation functions. Knowledge of specialized terminology to transcribe medical reports, laboratory analyses. Knowledge of, and ability to use, the Composite Health Care System.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Education can be substituted for experience. WTEW08838700 Correspondence Clerk (OA) Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - HI - Tripler MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); Prepares correspondence/summaries of medical records in response to external/internal requests for medical information or records. Receives/reviews incoming correspondence from civilian, military, & Dept of Veteran Affairs (VA) Hospitals, Social Security Administration, private physicians, insurance companies, individual requests, etc. Researches/extracts pertinent info from patient records. Processes Congressional Inquiries when pertain to info in medical records or provides input to others to answer Congressional correspondence. Receives/processes all Federal Tort Claims against the Government. Initiates research from computer, Nominal Index Files, Outpatient Records, & any specified clinics for information on claims. In absence of supervisor, assumes responsibility for processing subpoenas & investigations received from TAMC legal office. Composes correspondence, arranging information into logical & appropriate format including all necessary forms.
