09BR2-LME0400-0801-13KA General Engineer QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS: To be minimally qualified, you must meet A or B, and C below. A. Applicants must have a degree in professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B.Combination of education and experience - college level education and training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering; and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications of one of the branches of engineering.The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: 1. Professional registration, as an engineer by any state, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. 2. Evidence of having successfully passed the Engineering Training examination. 3. At least 60 semester hours of specified engineering courses as outlined above and/or related curriculum; AND C.One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as non-routine engineering work that required and was characterized by (1) professional knowledge of engineering; (2) professional ability to apply such knowledge to engineering problems; and (3) positive and continuing development of professional knowledge and ability.In addition, it must have provided it must have provided experience using standard analytical techniques, procedures to obtain appropriate technical and/or valuation findings. Also, experience should include use of effective communications skills to prepare oral and written technical/valuation findings. General clerical/administrative experience is not qualifying. EVALUATION OF FOREIGN EDUCATION:Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities.Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree.You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation as supporting documentation.Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in not being considered. Note:If you obtained your undergraduate education from a foreign country and then received an advanced degree from an accredited US college or university, the undergraduate education does not have to be evaluated.
