ICE does this by targeting illegal immigrants: the people, money and materials that support terrorism and other criminal activities. The Office of Detention and Removal Operations (DRO) is responsible for promoting public safety and national security by making certain through the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws that all removable aliens depart the United States. DRO makes use of its resources and expertise to transport aliens, to manage them while in custody and waiting for their cases to be processed, and to remove unauthorized aliens from the United States when so ordered. PH-09-JS-249690 Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer (Unit Chief) QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: BASIC TRAINING REQUIREMENT: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following: You must have successfully completed and graduated from one of the following training programs: · DRO ICE-D Basic Immigration Law Enforcement Training Program; · Immigration Detention Enforcement Officer Basic Training Course and the Equivalency Training for Immigration Agents; · DRO Equivalency Training for Special Agents; OR · A combination of the FLETC Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) and the DRO Equivalency Training for Special Agents.* *PLEASE NOTE: · If you have satisfied the training requirement via the CITP and you have not completed the DRO Equivalency Training for Special Agents, you will be required to complete this four – week training within 180 days of your entrance on duty with ICE. AND · Selectees who have not previously held a position as a Deportation Officer, Detention and Deportation Officer, Supervisory Deportation Officer, or Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer and have not previously attended the three-week Deportation Officer Transition Program (DOTTP) will be required to do so within 12 months of your entrance on duty with ICE. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the above Basic Requirement, you must meet the following Minimum Qualifications for GS-15 level: In order to be qualified as a Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer at the GS-15 level, you must have at least one year of experience, equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service, performing the following duties: providing extensive guidance on the interpretation and implementation of complexlaw enforcement, detention and removal, or criminal policies and laws; maintaining liaison with a variety of Federal and local law enforcement bodies, public interest groups, and foreign and commercial organizations in order to stay abreast of the changes in the law enforcement community; providing guidance or advice to employees on policies and administrative matters; developing relationships with, and fostering the cooperation of high level officials in law or immigration enforcement agencies, which may have included the State Department, foreign governments, and other entities; and establishing and evaluating employees on work goals. Requirements U.S. Citizenship: Candidates must be United States citizens and present proof of citizenship, if selected.
