IHC-250218-JEB-PN Economist QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Basic Requirements: A.A degree in economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus; OR B.A combination of education and experience, a relevant degree from an accredited college or university; courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Transcripts are required.Failure to provide transcripts WILL result in a loss of consideration GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess the basic educational requirements plus one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level and involved in initiating, planning, and conducting economic impact analysis for federal regulations, which have been conducted per the requirements of Executive Order 12866 and Office of Management and Budget Circular A-4 ("Regulatory Analysis"); experience in working on analyses aimed at finding solutions to complex economist problems that require extensive research and documentation as well as the application of economic theory and methodologies, including new techniques and a high degree of insight and originality. Requirements: U.S. Citizenship:Candidates must be United States citizens and present proof of citizenship, if selected. Residency:There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. During the three years prior to applying for this position, you must have: physically resided in the United States or its protectorates or territories (excluding short trips abroad, such as vacations); worked for the U.S. Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or military capacity; and/or been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or military employee serving overseas. Exceptions may be granted to applicants if they can provide complete state-side coverage information required to make a suitability/security determination. IHC-250218-JEB-PN Economist Additional Duty Location Info:Few vacancies - Washington DC Metro Area, DC MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); You will conduct complex economic research, develop analytical techniques for economic studies and conduct special analyses of major economic issues. You will serve as an authoritative technical advisor within an assigned area and contribute technical information regarding the state of the economy, including the interpretation of observed economic phenomena and forecasts of economic movements. You will ensure that agency policy makers are provided with accurate, meaningful and properly evaluated understood economic information. You will manage the formulation, programming and guidance of projects or continuing programs involving economic issues of great importance and significance. You will identify problems to explore, assess the adequacy of existing programs, and recommend and implement changes. You will also participate in or lead interagency work groups and respond to inquiries from the general public and high-level officials from other agencies. This is an open continuous announcement which will establish an inventory of applicants interested in a career as aEconomist with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
