JOB SUMMARY:

Central Alabama Veterans Health Administration (CAVHCS), is recruiting for one physician for a position in the Clinical Director for Women Veterans Program. The incumbents will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team, collaborating with other members of the team to provide medical care to veterans enrolled on the team.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
GRADE REQUIREMENT; Incumbent at the Chief grade level must meet the following requirements;
1.Past or present faculty appointment in an approved medical school or
2.Completion of an accredited residency in the specialty area to which the individual is being assigned or in a related area, or
3.Current eligibility to sit for the board certification examination in the specialty area to which the individual is being assigned or in a related, or
4.Comparable achievements in clinical, educational, administrative or research activities.
In addition, incumbent must display attainment of additional recognition in clinical, administrative or research areas.
(1) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
Licensure or Registration:Licensed to practice median in a state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Physicians are required to possess full and unrestricted licensure and to maintain a current registration in their States of licensure if this is a requirement of the particular State. The facility Director may waive this requirement if the optometrist is to serve in a country other than the United States and the Physician has licensure in that country.
REQUIRED FORMS:Submit a VA 10-2850 (Application for Physicians, Dentists, Podiatrists and Optometrists), most recent proficiency rating, and current SF 50B (Notification of Personnel Action).

The Clinical Director will work with the Medical Center leadership to set the vision for diabetic and metabolic care, teaching and research at CAVHCS, including strategic planning, program development, research, outcomes measurements, quality initiatives, and other aspects that might impact the attainment of excellence in service to our diabetic veterans by meeting their unique health care needs.
The qualified candidate should have a proven record of strong clinical and leadership capability in an academic environment or in a clinical setting with academic affiliations. Fellowship training including prior research activity with publications, grant submissions and invitations to speak at national meetings as decided plus. Your team will consist of physicians, midlevel providers, Certified Diabetic Educators and administrative staff. Strong computer skills are required as we are leaders in the use of electronic medical records systems.
